Ive read many guides on how to match an amplifier and a set of
speakers. Now there was i time when i knew nothing about speakers now i
build them!
From the guides i have read they make it so complicated !
If you are just using it for home use it isn't hard. just follow these simple steps and you will be laughing!
1. Decide on what you want. i.e bookshelf, floorstanders, surround sound.
2. Buy a good set of speakers, Search for the model yo are looking at on the internet, what hifi etc are usually a good place to find out about them,. they will give you a rating on how good they are and if they are suitable for you.
N.B if you are looking for surround sound and want to slowly build it up ( this is how i did mine) best to make sure that you can buy the full set of that particular model. i.e front floorstanders, rear bookshelf, centre and sub.
3. Matching the amplifier.
Getting the power right, if you speakers are 150 watts rms all you will really need is a 70-100 watts per channel amplifier you wont need a 150watt or more powerful as you will end up over driving them and your beloved speakers will become warped and sound muffled over time.
4. Buying an amplifier.
This can be a bit of a risky game on ebay as its a personal preference as to how you like you sound. I would suggest doing the same as deciding on you speakers.
