What harm can a bar of soap be?

From the moment we are born until we are no longer here or even care, we have a daily routine of washing from top to toe, well most do......

Labels

Everyone is crying out for information to be contained within our food labels demanding to know what actually goes into the food we eat but have you ever thought about what goes into a bar of soap and why?  What we douse our skin in. Also, can those ingredients do us any harm?

Yes, well we did and boy did we get a shock!  That is why we started Purdie's The Scottish Soap Company.  First ask yourself, what has the industry told us makes a great soap?  Remember the advert, "Thick creamy foam, lashings of it!"

Does Foam (Lather) clean you?

No, actually it doesn't.  That foam, as rich as it is, is a product called Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLSS).  Years ago, it was made for the big engine components to de-grease them and the floors around them.  During this process, someone had a bright idea and considered the lather richer than that created by natural soaps of that time and decided to put it into today's manufactured soaps.

Will it harm you?

Well, if it didn't, the soap industry should produce the proof that it doesn't - but they haven't and many in the medical profession have provided links to claim it a possible carcinogenic.

Moisturising Soap

Wow! Sounds too good to be true, a moisturising soap with no butters in it.  Well, then it is too good to be true.  Polyglycol, found in many of your soaps is derived from brake fluid.  Is that safe? Is red meat safe and smoking?

Education

I have found the best way is to teach yourself.  What's in it and is it safe?  Can I get soap that is safe?  I'm hitting 37 and when I was younger, I hardly knew anyone with cancer - did you?

What is Natural?

Anything really.  Both SLS and SLSS can be in your shampoo, soaps, toothpaste etc. and still be called 'natural' as the word 'natural' is not a definitive term.

Purdie's The Scottish Soap Company

We do not use SLS, SLSS, Polyglycol, Artificial Fragrance or Colouring.  Soap the way your Granny made it!  We do not even promise to make you look 10 years younger but will bring you back to your truly natural, beautiful self.
