Hi, This is a quick guide to some of Alexander McCall Smith's books. I read my first AMS book only this month (August 2006) and since I am now on my 6th book by the author. I find he writes in a well educated and fun style whilst telling us the tales of his wonderful characters and the things they get up to. Particularly my favouite character, Mma Ramotswe. I hope you enjoy this quick guide and find it useful. Many Thanks, Sarah.
The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency - The first in a series about Precious Ramotswe and her life as a female detective in Africa. Follow her funny journeys as she tracks wayward daughters, curious conmen, missing husbands, philandering partners and more!
Tears of The Giraffe - The second in this series. Mma Ramotswe is on her hardest case yet - the decade old disappearance of an American on the edge of the Kalahari. Another fun episode of life at the detactive agency with promotion and increases in family.
Morality for Beautiful Girls - The third book in the series finds Mma Ramotswe sharing offices with Mr J.L. B. Matekoni as the detective agency is in financial difficulty, but it is more than just financial worries on Mma Ramotswe's mind....Mr J.L.B. Matekoni requires some of her time too. Another fun read with more mysteries to be solved by the No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency.
The Kalahari Typing School for Men - The fourth book in the series. There is a new rival in town for Mma Ramotswe's business, but this one is run by a man who thinks he's better because he's a man! Mma Makutsi needs extra income as she has family and a sick brother depending on her, but how?
The Full Cupboard of Life - The fifth book in this series involves Mma Potokwani pushing Mr J.L.B. Matekoni into yet another favour for the orphanage and more crimes to be solved by Mma Ramotswe and Mma Makutsi.
In The Company of Cheerful Ladies - The sixth book of this series see's the return of Note Makoti, the departure of one of the apprentices and the end of the white van???
Blue Shoes and Happiness - The seventh book of this series... reading at moment.
The Sunday Philosopy Club - This is the first book in this new series. Will read and review next.
Heavenly Date - These are a collection of lovely, fun stories (flirtations) put into one book. Something different but definately enjoyable.
