Another scam comes after the auction has ended. Dead simple because you are so depressed after you have missed out on that lovely kit you have been coveting...

You receive an official-looking email that looks like it comes from the seller through eBay saying that the drums you bid for have not in fact sold to the highest bidder because they defaulted on payment, and you were the next highest bidder. You can't believe your luck!!

Just send the bid you were prepared to pay now, and the drums are yours....they will arrive by courier...

No, I said, just give me your phone number and I'll come and pick them up with a nice handful of folding...

No suprises that the emails stopped coming!
