Applying a stencil..
(1) Shave the area (always shave an area bigger than the actual tattoo to leave room for adjusting the stencil)
(2) Wash area with a skin cleaner to remove any dirt and oil from the skin.
(3) Apply stencil fluid to the area and wait 15-20 seconds until the area feels sticky (not wet)
(4) Then grab your stencil and place the top part against the skin and press from the center and smooth out, the stencil should be sticking to the skin. Then gently peel, making sure not to tear or pull the stencil.
The stencil should be dark and it should dry within a couple of seconds. You can now apply a small amount of vaseline. I tend to keep wiping whilst tattooing to an absolute mimimum until the outline has been completed. This will reduce the risk of wiping off your stencil.
Always make sure when applying a stencil that the person is at a rest position. This means the person should be looking straight ahead both feet planted on the ground with arms at side. Even if you are doing an arm piece they should be standing. The only time this doesn't apply is if you are doing an under arm piece or forearm just make sure the forearm is planted with palm facing up.
