One of the great basic things about Ebay is that potential buyers can ask questions about anything that is for sale. However be on your guard for what is now happening with the "Ask seller a question" service.

1. Mainly Chinese scammers who presumabley are fed up unsuccesfully trying to scam/sell us Brand new TomToms for £30 quid are now turning their attention/talents to the "Ask seller a question" link.

2. Typically a normal and genuine "Ask seller a Question" link is "How old is it" or maybe "Whats the mileage" In other words they are normally short and to the point.

3. Scam questions involved people trying to introduce themselves as "selling" a whole range of goods to you for next to nothing and not asking a single question about what you are selling.

4. Sometimes they will offer you via the "Ask Seller a Question" link £500 for something which is plainly only worth £50. Work on the principal if it sounds to good to be true then it is a scam!!!! They are simply looking to get your account number and sort code, as they say "to pay you for it", once they have it watch out you are going to get fleeced/shafted big time!!!!

4.Sometimes if you are daft enough to reply they then email back and say they would like to place an amount of money into your account to cover your expenses and if you are daft enough to give them your sort code and account number, well you can guess what is going to happen to your account next "know what I mean nudge nudge wink wink" You dear reader are going to get taken to the cleaners!!!!!

5. Bottom line is be very very careful dont give anyone your personal bank or credit card details. Pay through correct and normal channels only.

Thank you for taking the time to read this simple Guide on "ask seller a question" scams if you think it has given you even a little bit more to think about in terms of personel Ebay security please vote YES in the box below thanks
