I was bidding on a second hand of of BMW panniers today which I was outbid on. They went really high. This was the third pair I had missed in as many weeks. Rang a dealer and bought a brand new pair with keys and badges for 25 pounds more than my bid on the pair I missed here !
So always be aware of buying second hand, not always a bargain.
