I bought this saw for two reasons. One was that my petrol models were a little noisy for using about the house at night and the other reason was that I needed a cheapish saw for the job of cutting branches for firewood.I purchased this saw Gardenline 2000w saw just a few days ago and I must say that compared to an old Black and decker that I borrowed I am very impressed with its performance.
The Oregon bar and chain were the genuine article.15 metres/ second chain speed is the fastest I have seen advertised. The motor is as powerful as my petrol saws and much quieter.
The best feature about this is the inbuilt safety cut off. When you let the switch go the chain stops immediately. Therefore if you drop it or get stuck the chain will stop and you will avoid injury or damage to the saw chain and bar.
Cuts through hard and soft woods like butter.
A few tips to remember:
Always maintain the correct chain tension.Read the set up instructions carefully and remember to retension the chain after the first five cuts(yes five)The chain will settle in and later as you cut away the chain will require less tensioning.
Keep your oil reservoir topped up.Never let it run low.Give the motor a break every five cuts or so then check chain tension and top up oil.Running a dry saw will ruin your bar and chain very quickly.
Sharpen your chain at regular intervals. This is so easy to do.Not sure have a look on the web and youtube.Tons of info for you.
Always wear gloves when working with the saw and eye protection.
Never cut wood whilst it lies on grass or stony ground.Your chain will die in seconds and ruin your cutting pleasure. If your saw gives off fine dust and does not throw off chips of wood it is time to sharpen your chain.leave it too long and you will need to replace it.Chains are cheap to buy but remember to buy good brands such as Oregon or Carlton etc.Not sure what you need just ask the seller and he will advise.
Most importantly work safe and enjoy your saw and the benfits of burning wood that you have cut and split for your fire and family to keep them warm....Ray
