Young babies do not have bones in their feet only cartilage.

Barefoot is best for the early months. Always check that sleepsuits/babygrows are not making babies toes curl (crows feet effect) especially when in baby chairs/bouncers.

Once baby learns to crawl I recommend good fitting bumpers (first shoes with rubber toes). Avavilable from reputable outlets (like Clarks & Startrite) these protect their delicate toes & the rubber toes also prevent scuffs to shoes while baby is crawling.
