We decided we wanted to buy a baby carrier a few weeks after the birth of our first daughter, having found it difficult to do everyday tasks round the house whilst carrying a baby.

The only problem was, there are so many different types of carriers on the market and having no experience in this before, made it exceptionally difficult to choose, eventually we went to our local store and tried just about all they sold.

The Baby Bjorn range was without a doubt the most comfortable and although the most expensive I truly felt that you were getting what you paid for, some of the other types didn't fill me with confidence that the clips were 100% secure, and the Bjorn was definitely a secure fit.

The next decision was whether to buy the Active or Original, both were great and whilst the added advantage of carrying a baby for longer in the Active was why it was more expensive (I don't anticipate carrying my baby once it reaches over the 20lb weight!!) . The reason however I chose the Active was because of the lumber support, it provided much better back support and I had found that naturally my body tended to lean when holding my daughter, having the extra support, meant I was more comfortable and confident that I could stand with a straight spine without needing to lean into the hold.

As above there was some extra cost between the Active and Original but when you think about the damage that could be done to your back carrying a baby and also how often you could possibly be using the carrier, its worth the extra investement.

In the future there would be no hesitation on the manufacturer.. BJORN all the way (they market lead, but you get what you pay for) and the Active is definitely the most supportive carrier. However my only one point is that the Active takes a bit of setting up (getting the straps and supports in the right position) if there are two people who will be using the Active (Mother & Father), be prepared to be constantly adjusting those straps!!!
