Whenever you see “Sterling” then this equates to a LEGAL claim about the purity of the metal i.e. that it has a 92.5 percent purity.
The purity of “Bali Sterling Silver” is therefore 92.5%.
Beware however, there are two type of “Bali”:
1. beads and findings made in Bali by skilled hands using SOLID SILVER of at least 92.5 percent purity.
2. cheaper beads and findings more correctly called “Bali style” normally made in factories India and China using either plated base metal or an inferior purity.
If in doubt, ask your seller e.g. as a seller I can produce a legal statement of purity direct from my sole supplier in Bali.
As someone who suffers from allergies if inferior purity metals touch my skin, this is a subject I am rigorous about.
I hope this guide has been helpful, please contact me if you would like any further information.
