There is a huge scam worth an obscene amount of money on eBay at the moment.

Basically the item can only be paid for by bank transfer.

The sellers have hacked into hundreds of eBay accounts, created false sales, leaving positive feedback for themselves and then deleting the details so that the owner of the account doesn't notice. With a perfect feedback score they are then enticing buyers by selling goods (laptops, ipods, mobile phones etc) that are priced a little below any one else. They are not too highly discounted that you might think it is too good to be true.

Of course their contact details are not registered with eBay and they will not give you a postal address. So far we know (myself and a few other eBayers I have been in contact with who have been scammed) that they are using LloydsTSB and HSBC accounts but of course they could have an account with every bank in the country.

Please, please do not pay by bank transfer without scrutinising the feedback, you will notice that all their recent feedback was left on one day within seconds of each other. For example look at the feedback of Bovski and Happystickman. They are two known hijacked accounts and we are working on exposing others. I am happy for eBayers to contact me for more information,

Shelley
