Hello fellow eBayer,

There are a number of Asian/Chinesse eBay sellers listing popular TV DVD Boxsets favorites like Friends, The West Wing, Dr Who, Buffy The Vampire Slayer ect. 

However, there are an increasing number of problems with some of the members who are selling them!

1. There are quite a few sellers based abroad and delivery times can be up to 28 days. Even sellers in the UK are obtaining items from asian dropshippers. They wait for your order then they contact suppliers abroad. They don't actually have the goods here in the UK and delivery can still be many weeks. 

2. A lot of these sellers will not accept Paypal, siting high Paypal charges. They ask for bank transfer, cheques or moneygrams. These methods of payment should be avoided as it is quite difficult to get your money back if things go wrong or the sellers suddenly disappear.

3. Many sellers make their feedback private, why? Because they don't want you to see feedback comments that state 'very slow delivery' or 'item wet' or 'disk missing'

4. There are sellers who list loads of items for a month or two then become 'no longer a member'. This happens usually because eBay have had a number of complaints.

Ok, what can you do?

Only buy these boxsets from sellers who;

• Have a straightforward easy to understand listing so you know exactly what you will be getting. Email the seller and ask questions before you bid. 
• Have been around at least 6 months with a score of  at least 100 and preferably 250+.
• Make their feedback public and therefore you can actually read the comments. Also check any negatives.
• Will accept Paypal as one of the means of payment.
• Actually have the item (and preferably in the UK) Check the item location on the listing.
• Have a full refund policy

Finally, read and re-read the listing very carefully before bidding. You may have missed something important.

Of course all this is not fool proof but it will certainly improve your chances of not being conned.
