Bumbo: the essential baby seat

We bought our Bumbo a while ago off Ebay. We bought it for our 3rd daughter, Sarah. I don't think they were around when we had our first baby 4.5 years ago, or we certainly hadn't seen them then. I noticed them when our 2nd was probably nearly 1 year old, but didn't fancy one as I thought they looked too much like a potty. Having 3 children aged 3 and under though, anything which makes life easier is invaluable! Logistics is a problem with 3 children so young, where do you put them all when you go to the toilet, or have a shower? You can't leave them all together in case one tries to feed another something they shouldn't be eating, or any other unthinkable situation!

The Bumbo is great because it's easily portable. It's recommended you don't put it anywhere other than the floor.  It is made out of nice soft squidgy foam stuff so is comfy for your little one. They are made in lots of different colours, yellow and lilac seem particularly popular, and there are loads for sale in aqua and green. Baby sits upright, with legs firmly in place and baby's weight holds her down, preventing her from escaping. Baby can more easily take part in family goings-on, watching children at play, etc. It also helps with colic  as suffering babies often prefer to be upright; helps them to get their wind up.

You can buy a Bumbo new for around £30, or discount online baby shops, including Ebay, for around £25 - £27. Ours was second-hand, in as new condition. You can expect to pay £10-£20 for one like this off Ebay. There are plenty for sale on Ebay, but also plenty of people bidding on them. Keep trying and you'll get one at this price within a couple of days.

Good luck, and have fun with your baby!
