Buying what appears to be small wedding accessories like wedding cake boxes may not seem very important but with all the excitement of a wedding and with cheap imports appearing every now and again on eBay, it's worth remembering the "basics"... (1) by their very nature, they will contain food, therefore they must be brand new and in original packaging. (2) They must be either produced in ther EU or licensed under Food Regulations relating to "items coming into contact with food". (3) They must be suitable for use by Royal Mail, who have strict rules about minimum dimensions etc. Be extremely wary about buying second-hand cake boxes (NB even if sellers describe as "new", items are still second-hand!)... even if they're in the original packaging, what if the seller is a heavy smoker, keeps dogs (and I'm not being unfair to dog-owners!) or is maybe not as fastidious in their personal hygiene as you or I?... the point is you simply do not know what someone else's home and habits are, so never take the risk where food is concerned! You wouldn't buy them if you found them lying unwrapped in your local newsagents, so why buy from a complete stranger? Always buy BRAND NEW and from a seller with a feedback which proves they know what they are doing.
