The Professional Range. 

I have been selling these black vinyl covered portfolios since 1985. Used mainly by graphic design professionals, they are available in three styles: - Standard, Large Capacity (Grande) and Easel.

All  three have the same features which are: -

• Steel bar in the spine for added strength when transporting.
• Cushioned handle for comfortable carrying.
• Internal pocket(s) for loose papers etc.
• Metal protective corners.
• Burst-proof ring mechanism.
• Weather proof, leather-look grained vinyl, coated board body.
• Zip on three sides.

The Standard Professional Portfolio is available in four sizes A1, A2, A3 and A4.

• The A1 and A2 sizes come complete with a shoulder strap.
• The A1 also has a side handle to aid carrying.

Carrying Capacities: -

• A1, 15-20 190gsm sleeves, 20-25 140gsm sleeves.
• A2, 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.
• A3, 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.
• A4, 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.

The Grande, large capacity have the following features: -

• They are available in A2, A3 and A4.
• They have a sturdy plastic ledge for the sleeves to rest on whilst being carried.
• All sizes have a carrying capacity of 60 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.
• The A2 also has a shoulder strap to aid transportation.

The Easel portfolios have the following features: -

• Unique construction to allow formation into a strong triangular shape for "flip-over" style presentations.
• They are available in Landscape and Portrait formats.
• Sizes are A2, A3 and A4 Landscape and A3 and A4 Portrait.
• All sizes have a carrying capacity of 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.

The Student Range.

The student range of portfolios were devised to offer a cost effective option to see students through college courses.

Student Portfolios have the following features: -

• Cushioned handle for comfortable carrying.
• Internal pocket for loose papers etc.
• Black painted metal protective corners.
• Burst-proof ring mechanism.
• Showerproof, leather-look board body.
• Zip on three sides.

Student portfolios are available in four sizes. A1, A2, A3 and A4. 

Carrying Capacities: -

• A1, 15-20 190gsm sleeves, 20-25 140gsm sleeves.
• A2, 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.
• A3, 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.

Decorative Range.

The Superb Quality Classic Range.

Introduced in the summer of 2006 the Classic was devised as an alternative to the Professional and Student standard portfolio ranges. Not as staid in design as the Professional range, this portfolio has a vinyl finished spine and cloth sides.

Features are as follows: -

• Steel bar in the spine for added strength when transporting.
• Cushioned handle for comfortable carrying.
• Internal pocket for loose papers etc.
• Internal retaining straps for artwork, pads etc.
• Burst-proof ring mechanism.
• Shower proof vinyl spine and cloth coated board body.
• Zip on three sides
• Shoulder strap on A1 and A2.
• Side handle on A1 for easy carrying.
• The Pimlico is available in a Brown/Black and an All black finish.

Carrying Capacities: -

• A1, 15-20 190gsm sleeves, 20-25 140gsm sleeves.
• A2, 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.
• A3, 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.
• A4, 20-25 190gsm or 140gsm sleeves.

The DesignPro Range.

New for 2007 is the Design Pro range. An extremely smart portfolio with the look and feel of a leather finish. Made from black deep grained leather-look vinyl with two red pinstripes running down each side.

The Design Pro has the following features: -

• Steel bar in the spine for added strength when transporting.
• Cushioned handle for comfortable carrying.
• Internal pocket for loose papers etc.
• Internal retaining straps for artwork, pads etc.
• Burst-proof ring mechanism.
• Shower proof vinyl spine and cloth coated board body.
• Zip on three sides
• Shoulder strap on A1 and A2.
• Side handle on A1 for easy carrying.
• Looks and feels like leather.

It is also worh mentioning at this point that a large number of portfolios offered for sale on e-bay are covered with cloth rather than vinyl, you will find that with the cloth covered portfolios that the resistance to weather i.e. showers is compromised. Vinyl covered portfolios can be wiped dry with a cloth, rain will soak into a cloth covered portfolio and remain damp until  it is able to dry naturally.

Portfolio Sleeves.

The standard range of PVC, portfolio sleeves are available in four sizes, A1, A2, A3 and A4, and two weights 190gsm (professional hard wearing) and 140gsm (as sold by most other vendors).

Also available, to order, in 190gsm are A3 and A4 sleeves to fit the Portrait Easel portfolios.

PVC sleeves have the following features: -

• Open one end for insertion of artwork/photographs.
• Punching to suit all available portfolios.
• Welded edges and punch holes for strength.
• Acid-free black paper inserts.
• Super flat storage quality.

The Archival Range.

Polypropylene.

Available in A1, A2, A3 and A4.

Crystal clear polypropylene sleeves have the following features: -

• Open one end for insertion of artwork/photographs.
• Punching to suit all available portfolios.
• Welded edges and punch holes for strength.
• Acid-free black paper inserts.
• Ink etc will not transfer from arkwork to sleeve.

Polyester.

Available to order in A3 and A4.

Polyester sleeves have the following features: -

• Open both ends for insertion of artwork/photographs/prints.
• Static to hold photographs.
• Punching to suit all available portfolios.
• Welded edges and punch holes for strength.
• Acid-free black paper inserts.

A word of warning, there are some sellers on ebay who sell portfolios that do not have ring units in them. They then pair these portfolios with so called "free" sleeves. The sleeves are made of very thin polythene, and because the portfolio has no rings, they are virtually useless. The seller then goes on to tell what a bargain you are getting! Nothing worth having in this life is free. Don't be misled by these claims.
