I am writing this guide as the very satisfied buyer of a refurbished computer base unit that I bought from eBay seller scottyrecyclesit!

What I bought: AMD Celeron Base Unit with 256 MB DDR RAM for game-playing initially but it's now used mainly for internet browsing and communication via email and social sites.

Scotty Recycles IT! is the brain-child of husband and wife team Steve and Sarah, who began their business in 2005 hoping to combine working with looking after their two autistic children. The couples love for recycling and Steves computer building skills have snowballed since then, with approval from the Environmental Agency and Power Seller status on eBay.

Their aim:

To provide good base units for what we hope is a realistic price while helping to save the planet!"

My Experience: First of all, I should tell you that I believe we all benefit from reusing what is already here but like many people had doubts about buying technical and electrical goods. However, when my daughter asked if she could have her own computer for her 12th birthday in May 2007 I found myself with the dilemma of buying second-hand or not at all. I just couldn't afford to buy new.

I came tentatively to eBay think I would be lucky to find something at the right price from someone I could trust and also get a good deal. I work from a computer but I'm barely literate when it comes to specifications etc....and found the task totally daunting. However, after a lengthy search I came across several listings by Scottyrecyclesit! and after reading through their "About me" page and carefully checking policy, delivery terms etc, I rang the telephone number provided onthe listing and spoke to Sarah. Sarah was really helpful, recommending a mid-range AMD Celeron but also suggesting that I speak to Steve, just to be absolutely sure that it was the right one for our needs. I received the computer a few days later, beautifully packed and in perfect condition and it is still in that condition today.

I would highly recommend buying a computer from Scotty Recycles IT! and having experienced their repair service recently I can honestly say their service is second to none.

Scotty Repairs IT! In February 2008 my daughter's computer crashed after becoming infected with a virus ( I forgot to check her anti-virus software and it had expired ). Not really sure of what to do, I searched out scottyrecyclesit! thinking that I might be able to ask advice. This seemed a bit of a long shot really, as we'd bought the computer nearly a year before but I was delighted to notice that they were now offering a repair service. The upshot being that it was collected a couple of day's later and returned swiftly again in perfect condition.

Scotty Recycles IT! offer computer repairs, regardless of where you bought yours and if they can't fix it, there is no fee.
