If you want an hourglass figure, it's really not that difficult.

You will need to suffer a little, deprive yourself of some of those 'little treats' and purchase a good corset, just like our grand mothers and great grandmothers did. But, believe me, it's worth it!! After all, our ancestors wanted nice slim waists just like we do, but they didn't have the option of gastric band and bypass surgery to keep them slim. In a way, their 'gastric band' was, indeed, their corset!

So, what does a corset feel like to wear??? Well, it's like having a big butch guy holding you around your slim the waist with his strong hands, for a long long time.

What more can I say?

It's wonderful, and soooooo sexy!!!

And so, how to seek out a good corset ?? (By the way, none of them are made from whale bone any more. The firmest are of wire, or stiff polyester.)

'Volliers' is a make to look out for it you want a good traditional wire boned corset. One of theirs will keep your back straight, your waist slim, and your figure curvy.  'Ashford's', is another good name to look out for. More recent names are 'What Katie Did' and 'Leatherotics' which are also excellent makes. Lots for individual boutiques now make corsets, so do look around. You can choose between fabric, like satin or brocade, or leather.

Any corset will be an investment and last you for absoluelyYEARS!

When buying a corset you have to think about how often you want to wear it.

Everyday??

You will train your waist to some amazingly small measurement if you do, but let me tell you, it takes committment!

Once in a while?

Well, that's fine. Go for an affordable make with steel bones to keep you ridgid.

Very occasionally?

Save money and go for a cheaper option to give you style and glamour without the effort!

Basically, there is a style for everyone regardless of your size.  In fact, the broader you are, the better you look in a corset so, I say, go for it!!!

You should buy a corset which will reduce your natural waist by 3- 4 inches. So if your natural waist line is, say, 30 inches, you should buy one that is 26".  Incredible, but true!!

Style - under the bust is probably the most wearable as it can be worn like a laced belt to tighten the waist and tame the waist. It's commonly called a 'waspie'.  If you google the fetish model Valeria Dragova you will see what sort of figure you can achieve.  With this belt-stlyle will also be free to wear the bra you want  and it can also be worn descreetly under normal clothing.

Please be aware that all tradional corsets have a busk front ( a stiffened section with fastenings like hooks and eyes) and a lace-up back. The strings draw toghter in a bow at the centre of the garment ( not the top or the bottom as I have sometimes seen). The idea is that you hook the front first then tighten the back ( with help if necessary), to your requirements. Don't worry if the edges of the garment don't meet at first. Re-adjust after 15 min (particularly with leather corsets). Soon both edges will be meeting, believe me!!

Over the bust style is more demure and can be worn on it's own with a skirt or trousers as a statement. I would say, though, that an over the bust item is more for evening than everyday.

Do 'google' the makers I have mentioned.

I guarantee that once you 'get into' corsets you will love the restrictive feel, the discipline and shape it gives you, and you will want to further explore the history, structure and supply of this most feminine garment.

Please vote yes (below) for this original and unique information on corsets.
