I Want to Buy a Film or Music?

There has always been in some a bone of contention in relation to the excessive amounts that artists are paid for their creations in relation to music and film. But if you span a life time and where some artists for example may only make one single or album in relation to music. The income from sales and royalties are essential for a living.

There is no reason on ebay, why a buyer should purchase a forgery. On ebay the genuine items can be purchased for a song (excuse the pun). To ensure you are not buying a forgery. On the item for sale, take a look to see if the barcode number (EAN) has been provided. Check out the feedback and see if there are any signs of history that is questionable with an item.

The costs of buying a cheap forgery can be considerable. They say ignorance is bliss, but in relation to some sellers that have no sense of decency will sell their aunt and not consider the consequences. Many buyers are not aware that they do have protection under the 'Sale of Goods Act'.

Why should you need to know?

Well, say you buy a forgery off of Joe Smith's music and you open your purchase only to find it to be a copy. For a few minutes you pause and decide on what to do!

Really you need to contact the seller, but you know that you will probably get short thrift as the entity you are dealing with has no compulsion for decency anyway.

So you possibly you concede and think what the hell!

This is where your major costs could start and run into £1,00000000's, when digital media is authored like many if not most software today, you code in authentication and program scripts to track. This has been one of the big issues recently with Microsoft and the European Union over Privacy Laws. But the artist or programmer is only protecting their intellectual property.

But when you play that forgery on your PC the data and records are transferred across the Internet to the artists vendor and to the operating system manufacturer. Within day' or in some cases a few weeks. You will find that your PC keeps re-booting on a black screen and all your PC activity and work has been lost all for the cost of say 50 pence. As the operating system and computer has now been disabled, this can also happen if the kids are sharing and downloading music off of social networking sites. The data can be traced and action will be taken. Piracy and Theft is a big thing, you may even get a knock at the door from the Boy's and Girls in blue.

In the event of such a frequent incident these day's, sadly you have no recourse through the Courts as you played the item, knowing it to be a forgery. But you do have some recourse through the Police, as the sellers behavior to knowingly sell forgery items constitutes an offense under the Criminal Deception Act and the act of gaining a Pecuniary Advantage.

At the end of the day it pays to buy the genuine item and if you are an eco warrior. Consider the amount of blank CD and DVD roms being produced from the World's resources and as a result Carbon emissions for this unlawful activity.

So on you check list.

1/. Look at history of seller
2/. Check to see if there is an EAN
3/. If you are still not sure, politely ask the seller to confirm that the item being sold is not a copy. If you get abuse or not an answer, then you can conclude that it is a forgery!!!

Safe Buying and Good Luck!
