In the age of the superhighway, we have been giving an opportunity to be able to purchase products from all over the world with some ease.

Temptation is great to save money especially if you live in the UK with high prices and VAT added on top, we look to other countries where we see companies selling the same products cheaper then we can get in the UK.

It is easy for us as buyers to freely give out our personal information to these companies to obtain these goods.

Here are a few helpful tips that could save you from fraudulent activity on the net before you buy.

• Check that the website has a landline number (Not just a mobile number)
• Call the website company & speak to a representative of the company
• Check that the website has a registered address
• Search on the net for that company either using Google or your own search engine to see if other buyers have had problems with the company or you may find the product your looking for cheaper elsewhere.
• Don't just rely on testimonials
• Remember you may be hit with UK import duty charges so ask
• Check currency fluctuations.
• Make sure the product is not a grey import
• If buying travel tickets in the UK check that the agent is ABTA or ATOL registered.
• Is the product compatible for the UK market (i.e power supply,dvd region).
• If the product your interested in is far cheaper or the price is to good to be true it's probably a FAKE!!
• Check with your credit/debit card company that your purchase is protected so you do not lose out.

If you are in any doubt do not hand over your personal details you may leave yourself open to fraud and end up regretting it.
