I must be one of many who are often detracted from buying an item from eBay because of the postage costs.
This seems to fall into two catagories:
Firstly; those who sell their item cheaply but add a ridiculous "postal charge" to their listing. I would certainly like to see eBay clamp down on this unfair practice.
Secondly; those who have not discovered the many good courier services available from eBay sellers.
We use a company called payperdrop_uk from eBay. They have a contract with DHL. For the small sum of £5.99, you can have both a large and heavy (120x60x60cm & 31.5kg) parcel collected from your door and delivered to your buyer the next day. If you have any trouble finding them, simply put "parcel delivery" into eBay search - you'll soon see them. We have found them to be extremely reliable. I am sure there are other good couriers available too. Why not have a look? It might well improve your sales.
Please note that lestermusic-uk has no affiliation with payperdrop_uk and that this is therefore simply our personal opinion.
2nd.August. This 24hr service is now £6.99 but still amazing value.
7th.December 2007. I note that payperdrop_uk is now operating with its own fleet. I have used it and find it the same very good service and value. I was happy to note on eBay today that they HAVE now acted upon overcharging for postage. Well done!
