  1. Dont use a suede brush on suede shoes, use masking tape.
  2. Use 00 grade sandpaper on nubuck.
  3. When buying footwear, always try them on in the afternoon, because overnight, blood dissipates through the body, then pools in the feet.  By the afternoon, your feet are half a size bigger!
  4. Use Castor Oil to soften leather, also on leather soles to waterproof them.
  5. Sticky zips on your boots?  Try rubbing a pencil lead down them.
  6. Lace ends fraying?  Burn them for a few moments.
  7. To stop laces from coming undone, coat them with shoe polish (on a cloth) and leave to dry overnight.
  8. If your lace panels on shoes or boots meet or overlap once the shoes are on and laces tied, stick a piece of rubber, shaped to fit, under the tongue.
  9. To stretch shoes, stuff them with potato peelings overnight.
