ART DECO "BIDDY"

ROYAL DOULTON FIGURINES FAIR LADIES

The first Doulton figurines as we know them were launched in 1913 by Royal Doulton's Art Director Charles Noke,
although Doulton had made figurines during the 19th century.
Over 4,000 different models and colour variations are known. Each colour variation has its own 'HN' number and a figure may have been produced in a number of different colourways, each often worth a different amount.

Many choose to collect by type such as 'fair ladies', children or literary and historical characters.
Certain modellers are known for certain types of figurine, such as Leslie Harradine and his fair ladies.
Ranges such as the 'Dickens' series also prove popular, but some figurines will be rarer and more valuable than others.
Figurines only produced before WWII are rare and tend to be very valuable, as are those produced for short periods of time.
Figurines produced for long periods like 'The Balloon Man', or those that are still in production today tend to be less valuable or desirable. Condition is directly related to value. Chips and cracks reduce value considerably.
Examine all examples carefully.
