the joys of oily skin? other then being a shining beacon for all to see? the ability to break out in spots and black/white heads faster then you can say, no fried food please!
well to start with a good diet low in greasy fried foods, high in fresh fruit and veg is good, my mantra is "the greasier the food i eat, the greasier my skin"
a good cleansing routine is important, choose products that do not fight the skin or inhibit its ability to produce oil! why, cos the product will only continuously work for so long, then you have to replace the product as your skin will fight it! leaving you with even greasier skin! so these super non shine products are best used for special occassions. and some products will strip the skin of its oils and moisture! most major cosmetic brands do products for oily skin, i tend to use soap free products for cleansing and shu uemura purifying cleansing oil (the pink one) to cleanse my face.
once a week treats are a must! facial saunas are the best for un-clogging the pores, if you canbe bothered with holding your head over a facial sauna for upto 10mins a time? but you can have a facial sauna as often as you like, even daily, if you have the time, and a sprig of fresh rosemary in the steam does wonders with clearing the complexion. keep facial scrub use to twice aweek at the most! and if using a peel off mask, count that as a scrub.
to tone or not to tone? i just use warm water if i feel i need it. as its more cost effective! im sure the ladies at the various cosmetic counters would beg to differ, but ive done the toning thing and the penny pintching warm water thing and there is no difference in the out come
moisturise? most definately a good night cream clarins multi active night lotion, and through the day a mattifying moisturiser, biore is a good cost effective product for me and for them special occassions its clarins or the pure focus from lancome for the T zone.
its almost a daily fight to stay spot free, but no one is perfect and no matter how hard we oily skin people try to be shine and spot free, its a never ending battle! but on a positive note, we will age/wrinkle slower then our normal/dry non shiney skin friends
