I collect and use a lot of older Canon EF series lenses for EOS SLR cameras. Every time that I need to find the correct lens hood for a specific discontinued Canon EF lens, I find myself searching the web for accurate information, but I am not always successful. I frequently find completely contradictory results about which hoods are compatible with the lens that I am trying to fit. I have purchased far too many hoods that did not properly mount on the lenses that I bought them for.

Let me say that I do not usually sell lens hoods, unless I get stuck with one that I don't need. There are plenty of stores and great sellers on eBay who specialize in this trade. I do not plan to step on anyone's toes. I just want to have access to a COMPLETE and ACCURATE compatibility chart so that I can easily find the right hood whenever I need one. I am tired of having to start over “from scratch” every time that I need a dedicated hood for a lens that has been discontinued. This Guide was originally submitted on 3/08/07 but  is designed to updated on a continuous basis.

Please consider this project to be an “open source” work-in-progress. I will keep it updated on a regular basis. My goal is very simple; I would like to create the most complete list of Canon hoods and their compatible lenses that has ever been made available to the public.  This chart will be free to all, to be used in any manner, EXCEPT FOR PROFIT. This work is not to be used for personal gain or as part of a web site that accepts advertising revenues.

Now, with those parameters defined, here is the data that I have collected over the years:

Please note: The ET-62 / ET-62 II lens hood fits many of Canon's EF series telephoto lenses from the late 1980s and early 1990s, including the Canon EF 100-300 f/5.6 L, EF 100-300 f/5.6, EF 70-210mm f/4, EF 50-200mm f3.5-4.5, EF 50-200mm f3.5-4.5 L and EF 100-200mm f4.5 A.

However, please be aware that you must remove the rubber protective trim ring off of the front of those lenses before you can properly mount the hood. NEVER slide the rubber ring back on the lens tube to make room for the hood! ALWAYS REMOVE IT COMPLETELY AND STORE IT IN A SAFE PLACE!

Please note: If you want to search this chart using the Lens's model number:

1.  Select your browser's "Find on this Page" function found near the bottom of the Edit drop down list

2. Type in your lens's model number and the display will "jump" to your selection and highlight it.

Model Number Prefix Definitions:

EW = For Wide-Angle Lens

ES = For Standard “Normal” Range Lens (Except TSE 90, which does use an ES Hood)

ET = For Telephoto Lens
