At Visual Art the techniques used in creating and framing your artwork is largely
the same as those used by artists for many hundreds of years. These techniques
have generally proven themselves to produce art that is relatively resilient
despite their fragile nature. All being well and if treated right your artwork
should outlive us all and be around for many more years after. However in order
to improve the longevity and general condition of your artwork we would like
to draw your attention to the following tips and advice.
What is a Giclee print
The word Giclee (pronounced 'zhee clay') is French for 'to spray' or 'to squirt' and
was given to the method of plate less fine art printing developed in 1989. It
is a high resolution digital print and is a recognized fine art print category
such as lithographs and serigraphs. Extremely fine droplets of ink are spurted
onto art paper or canvas. The droplets can be controlled by computer so the
resolution of the printed image is much finer than conventional printing.
We create the prints with a high quality state of the art Epson Stylus Pro 9600
Printer one of the best on the market and 7 color Archival Ultrachrome Ink.

quality Giclee prints possible. Color quality is exceptional compared to standard
4 color printers.
Handling or Caring for your Canvas Print
Our Canvas prints are a high quality reproduction of your photo. Like any work
of fine art on paper or canvas, your canvas prints may be damaged if exposed
over time to direct sunlight, or marked changes in humidity. To avoid scratching
your print, canvas prints should never be wiped with a cloth or sprayed with
any kind of cleaner. Photos on canvas can be treated with a protective sealer
to guard against contact with water this is a service we currently offer. Ideally, however,
the surface of a canvas print should never be touched, even when coated. Dust should be blown off the
surface or try using a special canvas brush. If necessary, a light feather duster should
be used to remove dust build up and only if the canvas has been properly coated. Fluids
should never be used to clean a canvas print.
Where are Safe Places to hang or store my print
Avoid hanging or storing anything in the basement attic or any other place with
extremes in temperature and humidity. A stable cool dry environment is best.
Avoid hanging pieces on outside walls but if you must request that a moisure
barrier be placed in the mat package.
Avoid hanging prints in direct sunlight or any other intense light source. Control
the exposure to ultra violet light through glazing or placement away from a
UV source. Occasionally rotate framed prints to cut down on the duration of
light exposure.
Avoid hanging framed prints directly above working fire places or radiators.
We at Visual Art hope that this guide has given you some insight into the care
of your canvas print, but please bear in mind though that this is only a general
guide and you should contact your seller for more specialised advice on your particular
piece.
