Carlton Ware started its life in 1890 in Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire,England.

The factory was founded by James Frederick Wiltshaw in partnership with two brothers, James Alcock and William Herbert Robinson.

The first pieces made were imitations of Royal Worcester blush ivory wares, transfer printed wares of traditional style and wares which were in the style of Wedgwood's sprigged JasperWare.

In 1911 after a period of split in the management James Wiltshaw took over the company as the sole owner.

The company was renamed as Carlton Ware in 1958.

In 1966 the company was sold to Arthur Wood & Sons and in 1989 it was taken into receivership.

Carlton Ware has produced an almost exhaustive range of patterns and designs during its production years 1890-1992.

Today Carlton Ware is enjoying a rapid popularity around the world and collectors can expect to pay prices ranging from a few Pounds to many thousands for rarer pieces so it is universally affordable.
