Variations and errors list.

 

As far as a basic figure collection variant list goes...
I have noted the following variations and errors below in numerical order.

 

Variants:

#2 Anakin with Dooku PINK saber

#2 Anakin with Dooku RED saber

#2 Anakin with Dooku CLEAR RED saber (This figure was confirmed in the UK first and has now also found it's way in US stores)

#6 Red Shocktrooper - (Repaint)
#23 Blue Royal Guard (Blue color US, Canada and Australian release)

#23 Red Royal Guard (Dull Helmet Variant)
#28 Anakin (with SITH Eyes variant)
#33 Green Clone Commander - (Repaint)
#34 Black Clone Pilot - (Repaint)
#35 Blue Saber Palpatine (Point of interest: This was the first ever confirmed variant in the ROTS line)
#43 Wookie Warrior Light/Tan
#47 Meena Tills (White Mouth)
#50 Anakin Mustafar (More charred face)

Known Manufacture Errors:

The following are of what I know of, there may be hundreds of different error variations out there!

Figure Paint Errors:

#6 Shocktrooper (Unpainted brow)

#32 Aayla Secura (Unpainted Headbands)

#38 AT-TE Gunner (Unpainted Visor)

#53 Utapaun Warrior (closed hand, no gold logo on Back-Hand)

 

Package/bubble variants.

#11 Darth Vader (extended bubble)

#36 Grievous  (saber on other side)

#48 R2D2 (non-slit bubble)

Being all a matter of opinion, it's hard for just one person to say which are legitimate variations or not.

Therefor decisions are made on many views, namely between collectors within the collecting community.
For me the likes of simple bubble variations are not TRUE variants, yet they differ from those produced..? To each their own as the saying goes.
   

The likes of the VERY FEW paint errors such as the unpainted striped head of Aayla Secura is considered by myself to be a simple factory error. It IS a variant, it varies from the original factory produced end product but something I won't go out my way to add to my collection... Many others share my same views.

Same goes for blue and purple cardbacks. If you are a MOC collector, in order for you to claim having a full set. You'd have to have them on both blue and purple cards...
Everyone differs in their own opinions on variants.
It's a real tough choice choice to make. ESPECIALLY if you're collecting for a full loose or MOC collection...

*Rebuild Vader -

1). Smooth head

2). Rough head

3).ROUGHER Head damage (with slight off color - pinkish face).

 

Evolution variants:

Anakin to Vader - no scar - unseen bits.

Date stamp information.

The date stamp can be found on the reverse of the action figures packaging. It is a small etched 5 digit number.

The 1st digit = last digit of manufacturing year
The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th digits = day of the year
The 5th digit = manufacturing site

So, an example on the number 51921 means:

5 = 2005
192 = 192nd day of the year (July 12th)
1 = Manufacturing Site (In factory) number 1

Target Exclusive Lava Vader (Limited to 1 in 50,000)

Hobby Japan Lava Vader - The Lava Vader was also available as part of a Japanese Mail away special offer for readers of Stars Wars Action Figure Database published by Hobby Japan. It is placed in a different style starcase than that from the Target stores and is noticable by the sticker saying  Hobby Japan on the bottom front left. It is unknown whether Hobby Japan stickered Lava Vaders are part of the 50,000 Target allocation, but I personally would think so.

Point of interest: The Target "Exclusive" Clone has found it's way in UK Toys R Us stores. Without the clamshell, disguising the Target logo with a small red sticker covering it and with the usual UK/European standards sticker on the back and one also on the base of the packaging.

Toys R Us Exclusive Holographic Yoda

Toys R Us Exclusive Holographic Emperor

Point of interest: The Holo Emperor was available in UK Toys R Us stores, with a small red sticker covering the TRU Exclusive logo on the bottom left. With the European standards sticker on the back of the packaging and also one on the base. The UK version differs from that of the US version, The US version has a Toys R Us Exclusive sticker on the front right of the bubble.
