DIY New Upvc Windows and Doors and save a fortune?

Indeed I agree, however, do remember that since the year 2000 you have been required to submit an application to your local council for a Certificate proving that a 'Competent person' has installed the replacements and that it comes under very strict guidelines and conformaties. (Far too numerous to list here...)

Before you fit, contact your council or go online to thier web site and check under Building Control Services. You should see a document entitled "Building Notice - Domestic Replacement Window Installation" and also "Guidance Notes for Replacing Windows, Rooflights and External Doors."

This will clearly state what you need to do and how to apply. And yes, there IS a charge for this Certificate (around £100), which doubles if you are applying retrospectively.....

So be warned....check it out first!
