Being a curious sort, I was intrigued when I looked in 'Other Guitars' in the musical instruments catagory and saw a plethora of cheap (dirt cheap) Gibson, Fender, Epiphone, guitars!

Being a professional guitarist I dismissed them as fakes right away, based on the price alone! I put a few of the photos in 'photo shop', enlarged them and paid close attention to the details shown.  Based on this I was convinced that they were real, or at the very least, damn good copies!  Either way 200 odd pounds looked like a bargain! Afterall, this is E-bay! They would never let a scam continue on its site without doing something, would they?

I ordered a Gibson Classic quilt top which came to a total of 205.00!! Brilliant! I even checked with the seller that it was, indeed, a REAL Gibson, to which he replied in the affirmative.  Then it arrived!

Horrified would not be adequate for what met my eyes!  From 5ft back, with dark glasses on, it may pass first inspection.  Move any closer and you find the cheapest piece of painted firewood you have ever seen!  I giggled to myself but thought 'maybe its me! I'm too picky!'  I picked it up and the volume knob fell off! (Not a good start!) The paintwork look like it was done by a myopic one handed lunatic! The machine heads (which were proudly boasting the name 'Grover'! Mostly in tarnish!) had never seen the inside of the Grover factory!  Where did they get those pickups! Good God! Cheeeeeep!

We now get to the good bit.  Curiosity got the better of me. What type of quality soundwood have they used on this exquisite instrument?...........................F£**^"$ PLYWOOD!! With all the resonant quality of a bath sponge! WOW!  I have seen miniture models of Gibsons which are higher quality than this piece of junk!

I could go on for hours about this but to cut things short.....DO NOT BUY THESE GUITARS!!!!!!
