Have you read the so called guides regarding the buying of Dewalt powertools? most people are quite right in the respect that you will only get a 1 year parts and labour warranty with a UK tool only, not with a US version. what they dont say is that all powertools in the dewalt range are made in the same factories around the world and that if you have any problems with them DeWalt UK service centres WILL repair them for you, just as if your 1 yr warranty has expired. I have been using DeWalt powertools for around 10 yrs now and the only items i have trouble with is batteries. Not one of my tools has broken down or suddenly stopped working in any way! I have a full 18 volt kit from the US which has given me 3 yrs hard service and the tools are still performing as they were when new. I had a drill from the US which i sold recently that needed a new case after a useless apprentice kicked it off a scaffold ( a 80ft drop and it only cracked the casing slightly) Dewalt UK service centres replaced the casing and only charged me £8.95! So so much for them not wanting to touch US imported tools!
I have owned several 110v tools throughout the years and the Dewalt 110v sds drill i bought from the US has been sent off to the Service centre every year and serviced free of charge (at least 5 times now ) You really cant fault their service.
I must have saved a small fortune over the years by buying my tools from the US and i cant see why people would want you to spend more just cos it came from the UK? THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE
Oh yeah, I see now, THEY WANY YOU TO SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED CASH WITH THEM!!!
I only wish Makita had the same build or at least would honour their warranty's. sorry to slur Makita but i got sick of replacing switches on machines even within the warranty period, and i had to pay the labour charges!.
