DIE CUTTING MACHINES
This is just a short resume of most of the personal die cutting machines on the market based solely on personal experience.
All opinions are my own personal ones & as with everything different people will have different views !
SIZZIX
SIDEKICK & TAGALONG - super little starter machines requiring little initial outlay with a nice range of dies designed especially for them
THE ORIGINAL RED SIZZIX- the first machine I ever bought and still the one I use the most.Capable of cutting most 'personal' dies with or without adaptors including the newer custom designed wooden dies
THE BIG KICK - my newest purchase.Bought to make cutting the wider custom dies easier.A very easy machine to use & with the multipurpose platform capable of cutting any of the personal dies on the market
THE BIG SHOT - had one & threw it in the bin !! ( apologies to all those who love thiers & I know plenty of people do )I found it unstable & hard to manage. But again with the multipurpose platform it is capable of cutting all of the personal dies on the market
QUICKUTZ
THE SQUEEZE ( be it pink - black - red - blue LOL ) - again a very good starter machine but it does have its drawbacks in that it can only really use the small quickutz dies
THE REVOLUTION - a fabby little machine.Capable of cutting all of the quickutz dies including the new larger revolution dies.Plus accucut zipecuts - bosskuts and doubledo dies
THE SILHOUETTE - a worthwhile addition to the kit of any true quickutz fanatic !!.A computer linked electronic machine with a huge library of quickutz shapes available to purchase online - including many discontinued old favourites
PROVO CRAFT
THE CUTTLEBUG - FABBY FABBY FABBY !! this is the one which I recommend to anyone buying their first machine.LIke the sizzix it can cut any of the personal dies on the market plus the new cuttlebug embossing folders. It has the added advantage of having a cutting surface which folds up - very handy when space is at a premium
THE CRICUT - my fave electronic machine. This one operates on a cartridge system so no computer is required.Compact & very easy to use the only downside is the cost of the cartridges so you need to make sure you only buy what you are really going to use
XYRON
Another machine which I have owned and got rid off !!! - this one operates with little books but I dont think it has enough variety of shape & size for the serious crafter
NOTABLE OMISSIONS
BOSSKUTZ - I own one of these bought before the arrival of the revolution as I found it easier to use the a quickutz squeeze
ACCUCUT - these are not here because I know nothing about their personal machines - only the Mark IV which I also own & love !!
CRAFTROBO - another that I owned & got rid of simply because I didnt have the technical knowledge to get the best out of it
UPDATE
3rd May 2008 - just HAD TO HAVE the new Sizzix bigshot - well its got pink bits & gems so what is a girl to do ?!!
AND - fabby fabby fabby - so I can only assume that they have improved the design since I bought my original one or arm has got stronger ! because it cuts everything soooooooooo easily
11/10 Sizzix !
