Carpet Crawlies...
Carpets are the perfect hiding place for dust mites, where they cling deeply in the fibers. Vacuum at least once a week to reduce the number of dust mites and to remove their food source. Particles inside Dyson's cyclonic vacuum cleaners are subjected to 150,00g - 43,000 times that experiences by a Formula 1 driver.
Carpet Dents...
Rearranging furniture can uncover unsightly dents in the carpet. To return the pile to normal put an ice cube onto the dent and let it melt naturally. Leave to dry. As your carpet absorbs the water the fibers of the carpet will return to normal.
Footprint Train...
If someone has walked into the house wearing their muddy boots and left a trail of footprints in the hall, leave the mud to dry. Attach a Dyson stubborn dirt brush to your vacuum cleaner and loosen the dirt with the brush so it can be sucked away.
Red Wine and Soda...
Don't let spilt red wine ruin your evening. It's not a disaster, even if your carpet is cream. Speed is of the essence though. Add a little soda water or white wine to the spill to neutralize the stain, soak up excess liquid by placing a towel over the spill and tread on it. Then pour yourself a refill.
Scuff Marks...
If the Kids have been running riot and left cuff marks all over the lino of your kitchen, just sprinkle a few drops of eucalyptus oil onto a clean cloth and rub those marks away.
Snug in a Rug...
Rugs collect a lot of dust, skin cells and dirt. People can lose up to 28g of skin a week - that's the equivalent of a bag of crisps - a dust mites' paradise. Don't let your dust mites get comfortable in your home. Shake rugs outside to get rid of dust and dirt and then vacuum thoroughly to make sure you remove the dust mites and their droppings.
Sticky Situations...
The key to removing chewing gum is ice. Either rub an ice cube onto the offending area, or place the item in the freezer. This will harden the gum. Slowly lift with your fingernails or a knife and peel off.
Waxy Messes..
Been burning the candle at both ends and ended up with wax all over the floor?
There's no need to wax lyrical about it. Wait until the wax has hardened, place a brown paper bag or greaseproof paper over the wax, then put a warm iron onto the paper. The wax will come away from the floor onto the paper.
