Nose / Nasal Ear Hair can be embarrassing for many men and women and choosing a trimmer / clipper can be confusing.

Nose hair grows at the same rate as the rest of your body hair. While we all get a regular hair cut, the vast majority of us do nothing about unsightly nose/ear hair! Not that any of this makes you feel any better when your partner tells you to go and comb your nose. Cutting the hairs with electric nasal hair trimmers appears to stimulate faster growth. Pulling them out by the roots not only causes inflammation of the nasal mucosa, it also makes your eyes water. But then again, you don't want nose hair that reaches your upper lip either...

How Do I Know if I Have a Nose / Ear Hair Problem?

Which Nose / Ear Hair Trimmers are Best?

There are all sort of trimmers / clippers on the maket, made from Platinum, Stainless Steel, large ones, small ones, battery, electric operated or non battery. Some can be cleaned under a running tap; others have hairs brushed off. Our advice is choose the best you can afford, after all a well made trimmer will last a long time. It is simply not worth buying a cheap mass produced Chinese trimmer - they don´t last, are often poorly designed and will break down. Instead, go for a real quality item, preferably made in Europe / USA using top quality components. The components are very important - stainless steel and titanium for example will not rust; other cheap aluminium metals will rust making them dangerous for use near internal areas.  Even the best nose hair trimmers are under £20, so it pays to get the best.

Some, like the Remington trimmers come with 2 a year manufacturer´s warranty. Remington also have 2 models which are washable: NEDH260 (Titanium blades + detailed trimmer for eyebrows) and NE200C (Titanium blades). The NE5 and NE300C are not washable. Remington´s most advanced model is the NEDH260 which can safely trim eyebrows, ear and nose hairs using its straight Titanium blades. In terms of size though, the Remington clippers are fairly large! They are all about 5 inches in length and  thus rather bulky, which is not great for travel / portability. If you are looking for a more discrete version, then we recommend choosing one from the Groom Mate range (Made in the USA), particularly the Platinum XL which in our opinion is the trimmer on the market with the best features. If you have special needs or have problems with one of your hands, then you are best using a "one-hand operation" trimmer, like the Panasonic ER112 which works off 1 battery. Using a standard ear, nose hair trimmer will not reduce hair growth. They will simply remove excess hairs, which means you will need to use them on a regular basis or as soon as the hair reappears. This could be every 2-3 weeks depending in your hair growth. If you are looking for a permanent home hair removal method, then you may want to consider the Emjoi for Men or an Electronic Tweezer (eg One Touch Painless Tweze) hair remover. They use a radio technology to gradually weaken the hair and reduce hair growth. These devices do take time to work and are best used on areas like the earlobes and eyebrow hairs. They are not really suitable for nasal hairs due to the sensitivity in that region.
