Important Things You Should Know When Selling On eBay

By: Spoil Myself Today

TIP OF THE WEEK:

Each week Spoil Myself Today will give you a new and exciting tip about postage, shipping, selling or anything in general.

November 11, 2006

Don't quote exchange rates to buyers! Ebay and Pay Pal calculate this different and the total price will be different from what you quote them. It is better to refer them to a news site that provides exchange rate quotes so that they can get the up to the minute information on the exchange rate of their country!

Have you ever tried to find a phone number for eBay and could not find it anywhere? Have you become frustrated by customers who were constantly loosing their packages, and blaming you for the lost or damaged goods? Have you ever lost it when posting packages at your local post office?

Well, if you are like me you have probably pulled each strand of hair out wondering how people can come up with such total nonsense! You wanted to push the old lady with the walker threw the display window and run around screaming because you have to make yet another run to the post office!

Well, I am here to help you solve these problems it has taken countless hours of research, contacts, and just plain asking lots of questions to get this information. Most of this information is not readily available or is really hard to locate.

Your Post Office Nightmares Are Over

Have you ever sat in the line at the post office and wondered what is the best method to post my goods out to the customer? I have sat and listened to other Ebayer's argue with the man behind the desk about Recorded Delivery, and Standard Class.

  • Always send your items that are under £30.00 by 1st or 2nd Class Recorded Delviery. Why? Well, first of all you get a delivery confirmation, and a signature. Second you get peace of mind and third the customer is happy because they know they will receive the item within 24-48 hours.
  • Always send any item that has a high value by Special Delivery, i.e., Mobile Phones, Designer Outfits, and other expensive items, etc. This may cost you a bit more but the item is registered, insured, and guaranteed.  I can guarentee you that the Royal Mail is not going to damage your goods and the customer will receive them next day.
  • Did you know that you can view your customers signature on line by typing in the tracking number on the official Royal Mail website? You can saver yourself a lot of heart ache by sending things out recorded! Believe me it has saved me more than once!
  • Final Tip: ALWAYS PUT YOUR RETURN ADDRESS ON YOUR PACKAGE! For returned mail, and customs.
