often these are passed off on e bay..usually in genuine map cases...as rare, investment originals...they are not..they actually date from the 1950s..they are in fact part of a series of 49 maps from a 1950s book"Normandy To The Baltic", about montgomerys 21st Army Group..the maps can be found folded in a pocket at the back of the book, and are numbered to be used with the book...the devious usually only use the 12 dealing with D Day, artificially age them...hey presto.."genuine" rare d day maps......BEWARE folks...once these are seperated from the book, they are very easy to pass off....you have been warned......as a genuine collector/enthusiast..this sort of thing annoys me....what i know, now so do you.
never ceases to amaze me..as of 21 march 2010 an identical copy map same as the one shown at the top in picture is being offered on e bay uk as a genuine wartime dday map..it has bids of just under £8 on it...someone is in for a disapointment!
