I am writing this guide because I feel my own past experiences with Pink GHD's is not good and also to warn other members that 99% of the pink ones are fakes. I therefore wish to give everyone that reads this a bit of knowledge in what to look for and also questions to ask the seller prior to making any bid, this will save alot of time and money.
1 - Look carefully at the wording in the sellers description, 9 times out of 10 they will say they bought them and then someone else also bought them a set or they have just had a new set so selling used ones, this is a clear indication they have bought fakes from Ebay and are trying to get rid of them.
2 - Look carefully at the picture the seller has provided, have they covered them with bubblewrap so you can vaguely see the straighteners but they make a point of showing the GHD Professional on the box, this is a clear indication they are hiding something. The fakes also have a loop hole at the end of the cable for hanging up, the label on the cable should be small with no hologram, the fake ones have huge labels that are meant for showers and a fake hologram genuine GHD's do not have these, the seller will do their best to hide this.
3 - Genuine GHD's come with 2 verification codes, these are made up of numbers and letters in 3 sets of 5, 1 set will be below the hologram on the straighteners, the other will be a completely different set located on the outside of the box below the bar code, make sure you contact the seller and get these details prior to bidding, there are hundreds of pairs on Ebay that have the same fake code but nothing on the box, if you have purchased, make sure you check the code on GHD's verification page of their website. The pair I bought looked 100% genuine until I typed in the code on their website, they then confirmed counterfeit, if the seller does not reply or they say there is no code on box then steer clear.
4 - This guide relates to GHD MK3.1 version, with MK4's its not the same, the only thing you can do is check the rim of DVD provided, it should say GHD and definately not dvd/dvdrw.
In summing up, I have now thankfully purchased a genuine set of pink GHD's from Ebay, the seller had no hesitation in providing the information I requested and I got them for £80, but it took some time, look out for these when I list them on Ebay as I am having my hair cut short for the summer. If you are in any doubt then I suggest you purchase a set from a reputable website, they sell for approx £99.
