There are lots of counterfeit Ray Ban Aviators on eBay.co.uk at the moment.
Here are 3 really obvious tell-tale signs [compared with an authentic pair].
You can check these out yourself, just go into any High Street opticians or do a Google search.

No. 1

"B&L RAY-BAN ITALY "MARKED ON THE BRIDGE BAR"

This is definitely NOT marked on the bridge bar of authentic Ray Ban Aviators. B&L [Bausch and Lomb] are the American company who used to produce Ray Ban sunglasses. They sold the Ray Ban brand to the Italian Luxottica group in 1998.

The equivelent mark on current, authentic Ray Ban Aviators is on the UNDERSIDE of the bridge bar and only says 'Ray Ban' plus a numerical code.

[On vintage Ray Bans, manufactured by Bausch and Lomb, the inscription on the topside of the bridge bar is 'B&L RAY-BAN U.S.A.]. Bausch & Lomb also produced Ray Bans in India, but the fakes I'm describing today claim to be made in Italy.

No. 2

As stated before, the company that currently produces Ray Ban sunglasses is Luxottica, who produce a lot of top-end designer sunglasses. If the sticker on your Ray Bans reads Luxomca, unfortunately you have some fakes. Please don't take my word for it. Do a google search for Luxomca and see what comes up. Then do a search for Luxottica.

No. 3

As well as the obvious 'Ray Ban' logo on the right-hand lens, there should be an inscribed - ie scratched into the glass itself - 'RB' logo. Pre-Luxottica this was a 'BL' inscription.

There are a number of other differences, these are just some very obvious ones. As I've said, don't take my word for it, check these things out yourself.

I can't speak for other Ray Bans as I only own a pair of aviators [bought from my regular high street optician!].

Don't get caught out [like I did], take care of your eyes!
