FILL IN FLASH? WHAT IS IT?

Fill in flash is often used when working in colour in bright sunlight.A camera mounted flash WHICH IS IMPORTANT is used to put light into shadow area to make detail of where the areas are darker, and less detail to the eye and lens.

Fill in flash can also improve the quality of black and white pictures. EVEN DIGITALcameras and flashes will automatically determine the level of the fill in flash (or allow you to set a value relative to the ambient light - perhaps 1.5 stops less.)

If working manually you can find the aperture needed for the flash, and then set the camera for normal exposure using an aperture 1-2 stops smaller. OR STANDARD SET UP LIKE:

of 1/60 second or even lower, although some modern shutters sync to 1/250, and some special flash guns allow use at faster speeds. OF course digital cameras do the work, but a bit of standard knowledge will improve your photography, fill-in-flash is under used, give it a go, the results are quite impressive!
