FRAMING AN ORIGINAL VINTAGE ADVERT
"WHISKY"
Ok, you've bought an Original Vintage Whisky Advert as a gift for someone or you may just have treated yourself.....what now?
Instead of handing the advert, as it is, in a birthday or Christmas card or slipping it into a scrap book or dull frame to hang on your wall, I thought I would share with you my idea of how to make the most of your advert and cheaply as well.
The following guide is for a quarter page (approx10.5cm x 14.5cm) sized advert.
What you will need:
-
Of course an advert of your choice.
-
A frame which is larger than the advert both in width & height.
-
A piece of thin tartan cloth.(see my tip in Step 1.)
-
Scissors & sticky tape.
STEP 1.
Unpack the frame and lay the back of the frame on the tartan cloth.
My tip! if you do not have any tartan cloth or it is too thick for the frame then why not scan or photocopy a tartan design onto a sheet of paper and then cut to size. Feel free to ask and I'll send you an A4 size scan of this tartan by email.
STEP 2.
Fold the cloth over the edges (my tip is to fold either the top & bottom first or side & side first...it makes for a tidier corner). Make sure you keep the material tight and secure using the sticky tape. I have used the paper type of masking tape which lets you make minor adjustments easily without it sticking to everything. Don't worry about covering the clasp holes with the tape, these can be freed afterwards with the scissors.
STEP 3.
Turn the frame over and make any necessary adjustments to the cloth and then lay the advert on the frame and position it in place (there is NO need to glue or stick the advert with any other adhesives as the glass frame will do the job).
STEP 4.
Place the glass frame over the advert and secure using the clasps and "Hey Presto" a great looking
Original Vintage Advert
for hanging on a wall or sitting on a table top.
Thank you for looking and I hope this has given you an idea or two on what to do with your advert.
