Why do some sellers charge so much for postage ... shouldn't it just be the cost of a stamp plus a little extra for packaging ?

Well that really depends on when whether you want to receive you goods in one piece or even at all ..... sellers offering free p&p will be choosing the cheapest method of getting your order to you - it may be cheaply wrapped and break in the post - it may not be insured - it may not be trackable - it may simply get lost in the post.

How many listings have you seen where the seller states that they will not be held liable for items lost in the post ?

How many listings have you seen where the seller claims to obtain proof of postage and will pass this onto you so that YOU can pursue a claim ?

I sell clothes and like to think I am a responsible business seller with 1300 feedback and a customer satisfaction rating of 99.3% after 4 years of trading I guarentee you WILL get your items because I use trackable recorded delivery yet I never seem to be able to get more than 4.4 for my postal charges even though I almost never make money on them !

So here is my guide to what you are paying for when you pay for postage ....

1. Freshly laundered clean goods - laundry powder/conditioner, power

2. Recorded delivery - signed for postage -or-

2a. Trackable courier - track your consignment guarentee you will get it

3. Quality packaging materials, mailbags, permanant markers, parcelling tape, stong cardboard boxes,

4. Transport costs - to post office

5. Sellers time - packing, getting to and queuing at the Post Office

You should not be paying for ....

1. Listing Fees

2. Final Valuation Fees

3. Paypal Fees
