[CARDBOARD BOX] Bose In Ear (IE) Triport Headphones/Earphones

There are 2 main styles of packaging for Bose Triport In Ear/IE Headphones/Earphones

The guide below shows how to identify fakes that comes in CARDBOARD packs

Please click for our "Introduction to Identifying Fake Bose In Ear Headphones"

Please click for our "Guide to Identifying fake Bose In Ear Headphones in PLASTIC Packs"

Cable & Connector

All Bose In Ear Headphones in cardboard packs are older versions

Very early versions had a solid black cable - all current versions have a black & white striped cable

COLOUR OF CABLE DOES NOT INDICATE IF HEADPHONES ARE FAKE

BLACK CABLE = OLDER, BUT COULD BE REAL OR FAKE

BLACK & WHITE CABLE = NEWER, BUT COULD BE REAL OR FAKE

All versions in a cardboard pack should have the "chunky" headphone connector - this is not compatible with the original iPhone 2G - however this connector fits the iPod Touch, iPhone 3G and almost every mp3/CD/DVD/laptop

The easiest way to identify "cardboard fakes":

Check the spacing on the front of the pack:

Bose in-ear headphones | Auriculares Internos Bose©

The | between headphones and Auriclares should be right in the middle

IF THE | BAR | IS NOT CENTRED THEN YOU ARE LOOKING AT FAKES

THE GAP EITHER SIDE SHOULD BE APPROX 3MM

Other signs that the headphones are fake:

REAL: |bar| in right place       FAKE: off centre spacing

REAL: all box folds straight        FAKE: box edges uneven

REAL: box printed to edges          FAKE: edge of box is white

Other Versions

These are either a very early model (2+ years) or could be fake:

These are an Asian import and are likely to be fake:

These can be identified by the flip up hook  on the top

- and they do not have the correct writing on the front

These are missing the serial number so are probably fake:

(some fakes also have serial number stickers)

The only way to be sure of a genuine Bose headphones is to buy from a Bose dealer or a reputable seller with a history of selling 100% genuine items
