GHD/Jemella have maintained for years that they are NOT supplying ebay sellers. I would like to apologize to them.

Recently I had first hand experience of purchasing fake pink GHD's. I was low on stock last week and 2 of my customers wanted Pink GHD's. My authorised GHD supplier was out of stock so I sought to purchase them on ebay. I bought 2 of them off the same seller and also managed to purchase them cheaper than my stockist. When they arrived, what a shock..they were very good fakes. To an untrained eye one would assume them to be genuine. I was lucky because I had one of the originals in my salon.

The fake Pink could easily be removed from its box without breaking the seal. Once inside, the plastic packaging seemed cheaper and was cracked in certain area's. The literature books had images of the wet line products and its pictures were somewhat slightly pixelised. The pink wrap bag had sub standard stitching and its logo was also a bit suspect. The iron was slightly lighter in weight. The hologram on the cable was also not secured properly, one could easily prize it off and overall the box and its contents were lighter than an original. These were all tell tale signs of a fake.

I reported it via paypal as a dispute and the seller paid back my money in full including p&p costs incurred to send them back. His feedback had indicated that he had sold quite a lot of pink GHD's in the last month. I am considering contacting all of them with the bad news.

This seller had loads of them. Since coming close to being scammed I have done some research. In fact you can buy truck loads of these irons from China for about £40 each. Work it out for yourselves, in my salon we pay about £100 each from our suppliers and sell them at £135 through the salon.

Also these GHD Pinks are limited edition which means there are only a few of them, they come on sale every year in October. During October you don't see many on sale on ebay, by Decemebr there are thousand's available on ebay. 99% of these are fake. It takes the faker in china about 1 month to produce a fake which is the reason the market is flooded 1-2 months after the original goes on sale in October.

I would advise anyone that has purchased a Pink GHD or any GHD from ebay to recheck the item. Pink or Black, they have both been copied on a mass scale.

Sorry to be the person that has broken the bad news to you, but you may find that you have just been had and purchased a fake present for your loved one this christmas. If you get any Turkey this christmas you certainly won't be getting any pudding.....

If your in time I'd raise a paypal dispute. Take your iron to an authorised stockist and get them to compare againsts their ones. Do not rely on the hologram or its verification code. These too have been duplictaed.

Failing that mail me and I can try help. My salon is in SW16..London.
