This guide is kind of a follow on of my guide "Con men selling cars for Buy it Now prices"
at http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/Con-men-selling-cars-for-buy-it-now-prices_W0QQugidZ10000000002117483
If you are bidding for a car, expect to receive a Second Chance offer via email.
The Second Chance offer may well be a fake as I have had 6 in the last 3 days. They all looked genuine to begin with, but wre just edited copies of Ebay emails as all of them asked for me to contact the seller via email directly (which Ebay never do as contact must be via Ebay). 3 of these email addresses were Googlemail addresses and the others were Hotmail & Yahoo which rang alarm bells straight away.
Basically con men are out there preying on genuine bidders who obviously have big money to spend, but these con men must be doing this on a large scale as the 3 googlemail addressed Second Chance offers that I got were from exactly the same email address, so you would instantly wonder how the same guy could be selling 3 different cars under 3 different Ebay usernames from the same email address ??? idiot....
If in doubt, contact the Ebay seller directly from the link in the original auction. I did, and was told that his car had been paid for and collected that morning, aha, somebody tried to stitch me up....
