I bought a laptop from Alex Traynor www . dvd2cd. co. uk 12 Rise Close, Long Riston, Beverley, Hull, HU115JE on the 28/05/007 for the sum of £840.00 with p&p etc. After a couple of weeks I still had not received the item, so I contacted the seller asking for an update, I got a response saying everything was okay and he will keep me informed etc. Several days past and not hearing from the seller I contacted him again asking for more news. Again, he responded with an excuse he was having problems with customs, but it should be resolved soon. After 3 weeks my patience had been tested to the full and the possibilities of having being ripped off were setting in. Again I contacted the seller and the response was to offer me an alternative product by a different manufacturer, after several correspondents i declined his offer and asked for a refund. COMMUNICATION THEN CEASED. On not receiving anymore updates via email I proceeded to contact eBay and Paypal to pursue the matter further.

EBay said it was Paypal's problem because they handled the transaction. Paypal guided me to there resolution centre where I filled out a statement and in turn they would contact the seller to find out what was going on. Everything was all computer automated, the response, the verdict - everything! They explained they had not received a response from the seller and then compensated me with £150.00 - losing £690.00 and then being told the case was closed.

This seller had traded on eBay for 2 years, had a business trading account, 100% feedback and was registered with Paypal. I was one of several that were duped on this scam, and after reading other feedback left for this seller of recent, they will face the same problems with getting their money back from Paypal - Good Luck!

I have not had any satisfaction with eBay or Paypal in trying to get the rest of my money back. EBay's recent response was "contact the Police or engage a Solicitor to pursue my losses" Paypal's response was they have an obligation to protect the seller under government legislation. WHAT ABOUT MY RIGHTS TO GET MY MONEY BACK?

IF IT'S THAT EASY TO RIP PEOPLE OFF ON EBAY, I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING A NEW PROFESSION!!!

Update 13th July 2007

I spoke to the Police and spent to 20 minutes explaining what had happened from the start, correspondents - everything. THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS PAYPAL CONTACT THEM TO INVESTIGATE A POSSIBLE FRAUDULENT TRANSACTION - THE WHOLE WORLD IS GOING MAD IT SEEMS THE POLICE ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN WATCHING CCTV IN ORDER TO CATCH PEOPLE COMMITTING A CRIME.

I will continue to bang my head against the brick walls put up by eBay and Paypal and will keep you posted on the outcome.

UPDATE 6th December 2007

The Police contacted me and asked me to send all the correspondents I had on my transaction, I had every email related to this fraudulent activity, I signed a witness statement and  with the evidence I compiled, it looked overwhelming!

Guess what?

THE POLICE STILL DIDN'T MANAGE TO BUILD A CASE TO PROSECUTE THIS CRIME - SO IF ANYONE WANTS TO BUY A LAPTOP I'VE GOT THOUSANDS TO SELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
