Free Test for hacked/scam USB fake flash drive/SD card. : eBay Guides

There is a HUGE ongoing problem, on eBay, with most Chinese/Hong Kong (& some International) Sellers advertising items such as memory cards, USB flash drives and MP3 players, claiming 8, 16 or 32GB memory.

Do NOT be fooled by most of their good feedback !

Most people trust these sellers, and do not FULLY test the memory device until AFTER they have left Feedback!

When you connect these cards to your computer, and select 'PROPERTIES', it will show the capacity claimed.

However - they are hacked to do this.

In most cases they will have less than half of it.

You can record the claimed capacity on them, but you cannot retrieve the information, because the memory has been corrupted.

Just download a very small free program called " H2testw" (Available on the web, as eBay will not let me post a link on here).

It will fill your device with numbers and letters in 1000Mb lots and then try to read it back.

If your device works as claimed it will tell you, if not, it will tell you which part of it is OK and you can reformat it to the actual capacity.

The whole idea of this review is to make eBayers aware of those hackers out there.

I purchased some of these cards myself (hoping to get a bargain). BUT ..... I found out the 'hard way' that these were MORE than useless, and I lost a LOT of important information.

DON'T BE AN IDIOT LIKE ME !!!!!

Thanks to a dedicated group of eBayers and reluctant cooperation from eBay and PayPal, these scamsters (and others) have been put out of business.

Most of them will try to come back with a new identity, so we can not afford to relax.

It looks like every 16 or 32 GB Drive offered on auction from China, having a low starting price, is a fake.

They are listed in their thousands!!!!
