I lost money recently to *helloburt* who promised a refund for a lens which I sent back, and then promptly sold it again to someone else under a different number.
The advice I can give is DO NOT PAY BY CQ or Postal order. Be aware that many have learned to their cost that feedback does not indicate honesty or that seller is a great guy.
Even EBAY is involved in shill bidding. One strange thing you will notice that if a serious negative is left for a seller or a buyer, it is immediately followed by glowing positives from those who are lucky enough to think they have a bargain.
It is almost impossible to recover money from a private trader. Even if a court finds in your favor this is no guarantee you will ever recover your money.
A WORD ABOUT INSURANCE. So you use Insurance or buy extra insurance?
Item goes missing. When you make a claim who gets the money. Item is still lost.
So, someone loses out.
