Im a mum of 3 kids who are now 7, 3 & 1.If you havn't got a car getting around with two young children can be hard to say the least! Heres my guide on the different ways of getting around with a baby and a toddler;

  • Option 1- Toddler in pushchair, baby in carrier.    This is great if your baby is small but when they get bigger its way too much hard work! Good for if you need to get on the bus though because you have a free hand. The type that fit on your back are okay for when they're bigger but make sure your hair is out of reach!
  • 2- tandem pushchair.     Be careful which one you buy! I had one that was quite long where your toddler sits at the front and baby lies down at the back. I found that with a heavy toddler in the front its almost impossible to get up curbs and when i put the baby in the front i couldn't keep an eye on him and my toddler kept kicking the back of his seat. If your going to get a tandem try one of the three wheelers with pneumatic tyres instead.
  • 3- twin pushchairs.     These are great unless you want to go shopping! Supermarkets are usually okay as long as they're not too busy but smaller shops have narrow isles that are impossible to get the pushchair through with out knocking things over or your toddler grabbing everything in reach! Make sure you get the narrowest pushchair you can find otherwise you might not fit through some doors. Also be aware that your toddler can reach the baby so there may be some toy snatching or worse! Other than these problems twin pushchairs are easy to get around and often come with extra large shopping baskets.
  • 4- pushchair & buggy pod seat.    I would Not recommend using one of these with a three wheeler with pneumatic tyres!!! I have a urban detour extreme. I fitted on one of these pods thinking it would be great for when my toddler gets tired but found that, even with my toddler in the pushchair and baby in pod seat, the pushchair would tip up on slanted paths (ie every drive!) and it was near impossible to get up high curbs. Would probably work better with a four wheeled pushchair but after the three wheeler nearly tipped over i lost all confidence in this product & never used it again.
  • 5- Now that my toddler is at nursery she walks there but i found most pushchairs were difficult to get around with one hand (toddlers hand in the other hand) so i brought the bebe confort vit pushchair which is designed to be pushed with one hand. I love this pushchair!! Its light weight, glides easily, easy to get up high curbs (even with one hand) and looks great. The only problem is that theres no shopping basket but once i've dropped off my toddler at nursery i have one spare hand to carry the shopping. Great for traveling too as it is very light & has a strap to carry it with. Its also incredibly easy to turn with one hand. Not so easy to fold with one hand but possible with some practice.

I never tried a buggy board because most fit at the back and i would most likely spend the whole journey kicking it and as my toddler is rather clumsy i thought she would fall (or jump) off these types of boards.

So if you have two young kids like me & no car i would recommend you buy a slim twin pushchair for trips to the supermarket or long walks, a baby carrier for when baby is very small & the bebe confort vit stroller for your toddler at first then your baby when hes older.

 Hope this guide helps those of you in similar situations.

Kind regards.
