Feedback
We took a look at this member's feedback, and noticed the following which all appeared to be complaining about items described as gold which were not gold:
A coin described as "GOLD FRANCO PESETA 1963" is not a gold coin. Misleading!

2002 GOLD JUBILEE RARE MINT 25 CENT COIN (3)
RARE GOLD JUBLIEE 2002 50 CENT COIN BU BU $$ (6)
RARE 1867- 1967 GOLD CONFEDERATION TOKEN STUNNING
None of the above appear to our experienced eyes as gold.
While we accept that golden jubilee means 50th anniversary, this sellers uses the description gold rather than the word golden. Nowhere in the listings does he make any attempt to clarify this point.
From his numerous negative, neutral and withdrawn feedbacks, it is clear that a number of buyers have felt sufficiently mislead by this buyer and his descriptions to complain. We can also see that most of these complaints are answered by aggressive and abusive comments, sometimes also by reciprocal negative feedback. We believe an honest and ethical seller would alter his listing to clarify the points complained of.
Not Only, But Also...
RARE GOLD AND SILVER MINNING TOKEN REAL GOLD 1867 MINT (2)
The vendor feels the need to describe this item not only as gold, but also as real gold, presumably to differentiate from his other phoney gold items.
From the photographs, description, and our experience, we are not able to tell whether the items are in fact gold or not. there is no statement by the vendor of the gold alloy (fineness or caratage), or any other evidence that these items are actually genuine gold.

Why This Guide?
As well established (42+ years) dealers with a good reputation, we find it frustrating to see item after item fraudulently and misleadingly listed on eBay as gold. Most often, it is fairly obvious that the items are not gold, and perhaps buyers should beware, but we believe all sellers have a responsibility to describe their items accurately and honestly. Sadly we realise this is not the case, and we believe eBay should take some ethical and moral initiative, but even more sadly, we repeatedly notice that they fail to do so.
Occasionally, we get so fed up seeing items which we believe are deliberately misdescribed. Even more occasionally, we take the time and trouble to report the offending items to eBay. We have never yet noticed any of these offending items being removed be eBay, and we have never received any feedback from eBay to advise us of any action they have taken against the crooked vendors, or advice or warnings they have given them.
Who's to Blame?
We believe there are three parties who should share the blame for this member's continuing dishonesty:
The member himself. He should ethically morally and legally conform to normal accepted standards.
eBay. eBay should not permit this member to continue misleading buyers.
Buyers. The members who feel aggrieved at being duped by this member should complain to eBay about the original, and similar false listings. If enough members complained, perhaps eBay would take some notice. Perhaps some buyers have complained, in which case, eBay have clearly failed to act.
An Experiment
As an experiment, we have notified eBay, via their "Trust and Safety" section, about the misleading titles and descriptions in the two specific current listings mentioned above. We have placed these in our "Watch This Item" folder, and will wait with interest to see what happens. We suspect it will be nothing!
