First of all, i'm just a regular working mom of (now) an active toddler (I first wrote this when my daughter was only 6 months old) and I have no relationship with the Grobag company. I stumbled upon their listings on the internet and decided to give their sleeping bags a try. Trust me on this, they are a true life saver.

All moms know only too well their little one has sometimes too much energy for the bedding to bear, which often leaves our loved one totally uncovered in the middle of the night (and whining about it). I know there are many other sleeping bags out there, but these ones are extremely practical and of great quality.

For one, they are cotton 100%, inside and out (the inside is a soft toweling surface your little one will love). No synthetic padding whatsoever (unlike the cheap ones you may find which either irritates your little one's skin giving them a nasty rash, or, at best, being so extremely warm that the baby is sweating all night and bacteria start building up).

They come in 3 tog's (tog rating is the European acceptable standard for the "weight", in fact "warmth", of the sleeping bag. 2.5 (which is the standard for winter in nothern climates), 1 (for spring in colder places and winter-spring in warmer places or nurseries) and 0.5 which is for high summer. I opted for tog 1 and went right through the entire winter (my nursery has an average temperature of about 20-22 C).

Yes, but is it warm since the baby's hands are left free, outside the bag (no sleeves)? Well, that was my initial concern as well. But, have you watched your baby during sleep (of course you have, silly me). Does it EVER have both its hands (or at least one of them) under the blanket and I mean EVER? Well, that's what Grobag thought too (I mean, really, try to sleep with both your hands stuck into padded sleeves and be happy about it). So, unless you live alfresco in Lapland, you should not worry about your baby being cuddly and warm in one of those. You just put your baby into its nice cotton onesie sleepsuit, snap it in the bag, and put it to bed.

Plus: All grobags come with 2-way safety zippers (0-6 months) or  1-way safety zipper (the bigger sizes), which are not in contact with baby's body on the inside as they are inseamed, armpits are comfortable (and can be adjusted with poppers for the 0-6 months size), plus some models have a "travel feature" (a gap at the back of the bag which allows insertion of seat belt of car seat or pram, so the belt goes through the back and inside the bag, and not over and around it which would squeeze the baby rather unconfortably).

And another plus (for toddler sizes): It's the ultimate, extremely sneaky way to keep your adventurous toddler inside its' cotbed, because obviously it cannot climb the railing of the bed while in the bag! That of course until your baby can muster the Hoodini art of undoing zippers (which unfortunately is bound to happen sooner than later, but at least you can settle for as later as possible).

I've machine washed them over and over and tumble dried them as well at the same program as the rest of the baby clothes and they remained soft and brightly colored as if just out of the bag.

For the first months I bought three of them (0-6 months) although I think 2 would suffice (depending how messy your baby can get!), and never needed any additional cover sheets or blankets. The bigger sizes have even more durability (ages 6-18 months available in 1 tog and 0.5 tog). After buying them (when my daughter was about 40 days old), I never had to get up in the middle of the night to cover her. Pitty they don't come in bigger sizes (like, 5 to 99 years!).

Just as a small note, my daughter is now around 2 years and she's still wearing them (Grobag has a very convenient size of 3-6 years!)

An extremely satisfied customer (it shows)!!!
